Mah Jongg Tile Set Description
This File : MAYA.TXT
Tile Set Name : MAYA.TIL
Subject : One Mayan pronouncing alphabet.

Description: This tile set follows, generally, the format of the
original Mah Jongg set: three suits, four other and two sets of wild
cards.
When the Spaniards came to the New World they brought scholars as well
as plunderers. One of the scholars madde an attempt to create a written
Mayan language by asking the Mayans what pictograph would represent
certains sound. This file shows what he put down. It was really a
failure but I thought interesting enough for a tile set.
There is nothing authentic about the colors. I mixed the colors so
that at a later date the tile colors could be changed easily. You
wont find any Mayan books using these pictures for their alphabet
because they did not use one. I think the scholar finally realized
this, too.
Anyway, after a nice week in Cancun and a day at Cichen Itza, this is
only one of several tile sets that I have done so far this year.
